Dear BRS Friends and Colleagues,
Next year is a special one for us... the BRS will be 75 years old! We are very much looking forward to being able to celebrate our anniversary in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, a UNESCO World heritage site, and are now hard at work planning an exciting programme for BRS 2025.
With it's rich history, noted alumni and distinguished scholars, The University of Edinburgh is a truly global University, making a contribution to the world, through global partnership, community and exchange. It is the home of Britain’s oldest literary awards, the James Tait Black Prizes and Dolly the sheep, the first animal to be cloned from an adult somatic cell. Founded in 1582 and now one of four in the city, the University is considered one of the best research institutions in the world.
Edinburgh, a vibrant city bursting with creativity and character, is Scotland's compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of Scottish rulers. The city has long been a centre of education, particularly in the fields of medicine, law, literature, philosophy, the sciences and engineering. With it's rich cultural scene bustling with history, art and independent shops it is the perfect place to connect and network with colleagues.
The Bone Research Society is a unique society with a friendly ethos and true community - we are looking forward to spending time with you all and are excited to welcome you all to our meeting at the John McIntyre Conference Centre situated at the foot of Edinburgh’s iconic extinct volcano, Arthur’s Seat. The JMCC is part of the Pollock Estate Campus in the vibrant Southside of Edinburgh, with the venue and accommodation all set in extensive landscaped gardens just a 10 minute drive from the city centre and 30 minute drive from the airport - the perfect location and venue for our meeting.
We have been working hard with our committee to put together a new, updated scientific programme which will support pre-clinical scientists, clinicians, and allied healthcare professionals of all career stages to present and discuss the latest exciting research in our field.
The sessions will include talks by world-leading experts, our popular Early Career Researcher networking session, a new Osteoporosis workshop and two special workshops covering imaging and animal models. Not to mention lots of opportunities for submitted oral communications and poster sessions. We know how important networking and coffee are to our members so we have extended our networking and poster sessions giving you plenty of time to catch up with colleagues!
If you should have any questions, please do get in touch with us at events@boneresearchsociety.org. We hope to see you in Edinburgh next June!
Best wishes
