Awards and Grants

BRS New Investigator Award and Best Presentation Award applicants must be:

  • A member of BRS at the time of applying
  • Working towards or within 5 years of attainment of higher degree or completion of specialist training
  • A presenting author (oral or poster) at BRS meeting  

New Investigator Awards

For the top scoring abstracts from eligible authors.
Award - £400 towards registration, accommodation fees and travelling expenses

Best Presentation Awards

Presentations will be judged during the meeting and prizes will be awarded as follows

  • Best oral
  • Best oral poster
  • Best poster

ASBMR Travel Awards

ASBMR has generously offered 2 travel grants of up to $1500 for ASBMR in-training members residing outside of the UK to attend the Bristol meeting. The awards will be judged on the quality/score of abstracts submitted by first and presenting authors, the deadline for which is 10 Feb 2017. Registration fees will also be waived for the successful awardees.

BRS is grateful to ASBMR for their generous support. 

If you are eligible and would like to apply for an ASBMR Travel Grant please email a scanned letter signed by your head of department/supervisor to the meeting organisers by 10 Feb 2017. The letter should include the title of your abstract and should verify your eligibility. 

Eligibility criteria for ASBMR awards:
• In-training member of ASBMR
• Presenting author (oral or poster)
• Residing outside the UK

Bursaries

The Society also offers bursaries of up to £150 towards the cost of attending the meeting to BRS members submitting abstracts.

Carer Grants

We realise that the start of the meeting on Sunday afternoon and the early start on Monday may present additional difficulties for those with caring duties. A grant of up to £100 is available to members who incur additional childcare or other caring costs to attend the meeting.

New Investigator Accommodation Grants

An accommodation and subsistence grant of £50 is available to those attending the New Investigator Session who have difficulties arriving on time when travelling on Sunday.
